People always ask me if they really need to have someone monitor their credit. My answer is yes! Credit monitoring is necessary for everyone not just people who are working to improve or clean up their credit. Monitoring your credit can help you to know what is on your report and to see if there are any big changes from month to month. In this day and age, identity theft is at it’s highest peek and not knowing your score or credit activity is opening the door to a disaster.
I highly recommend having a system in place where you are actively at least once a month looking at your report and monitoring your account and score activity. This way you will be safe from unhappy surprises and can alert your credit companies immediately if you see incorrect information.
I offer credit monitoring to my clients as a good protection plan and a way for you to stay up to date with your information. Check out my monthly credit monitoring and other credit repair packages here.

Some people think that credit monitoring services are only necessary for those with particularly troubled credit history, but that’s not the case at all. In fact, it’s just as important to use a credit monitoring service in order to maintain a pristine credit rating as it is to improve a poor one.
When you sign up with a credit monitoring service, you will get important information from your major credit reports through Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. That means you’ll be able to track all of them and make sure that any information reported is accurate. Most credit monitoring services also allow you to dispute negative items directly from their site (or at least they have a link).
In addition to avoiding any inaccurate notes on your file, you can also figure out exactly where your weak points are so that you can improve them going forward. Most credit monitoring services show you the major factors in your credit score and grade you on each of them. As a result, you can figure out how you can adjust your financial approach in order to get a better credit rating. That can impact your chances of getting a car or home loan, or other major financing. Obviously, those are important things to consider for just about anyone.
Credit monitoring services can also help to protect you from identity theft, which is increasingly important in an era where so much information is stored online. Unfortunately, credit card fraud and identity theft are becoming significantly more common these days. Cyber criminals have been able to hack the databases of major companies in order to obtain credit card information, so nobody’s information is entirely safe.
Some credit monitoring services, like TransUnion, will also provide you with all three of your credit scores for free. This is a great feature when you’re in the process of repairing your credit because it gives you a way to track your progress on a monthly basis.
The truth is, information can be power when it comes to improving your personal finances. You need to be paying attention to your credit on a regular basis.
